MacroTracker is a nutrition tracker for iOS and the web. This policy explains exactly what it stores, who it is shared with, and how to get rid of it. It covers both the iOS app and basedmacrotracker.com, which share one account and one database.
Your account. A username and a password. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and are never visible to us. If you sign up with a username rather than an email address, we generate an internal address of the form yourname@macrotracker.internal purely to identify the account — it is not a real mailbox and receives nothing.
What you log. Meals and their macros, foods you add to your library, serving sizes, timestamps, daily targets, your cut/bulk setting, weight entries, and grocery lists.
Photos. Photos you take of food or nutrition labels. These are stored in our file storage and are readable only by your account.
Usage data. Anonymous-in-content product events — that a meal was logged, that a scan succeeded or failed, which platform and app version you are on, and when. These carry your user ID so we can measure whether people keep using the app; they never contain the content of your meals, your photos, or your weight.
We do not collect your location, contacts, advertising identifiers, or device identifiers, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. It reaches these providers only to make features work:
About the photos you scan. Scanned images pass through an AI provider to be read. We do not use your photos to train any model, and we do not keep a copy on the provider's side. Photos you choose to save to a food in your library are stored in our own storage until you delete them.
If you invite someone to a grocery list, they can see that list, its items, and which items you have checked off. Nothing else about your account becomes visible to them. Leaving or deleting a list ends that access.
Your data stays until you remove it. Deleting a meal, food, weight entry, or photo removes it. Deleting your account removes everything (see below). Usage events are retained for up to 24 months so we can measure long-term retention, then deleted.
You can delete your account and everything in it from inside either app: Profile → Delete account. This is immediate and permanent. It removes your meals, foods, weight history, grocery lists you own, saved photos, targets, and usage events. There is no recovery, no grace period, and no backup copy we can restore from.
Foods you contributed to the shared community library and items you added to a grocery list someone else owns remain, but are no longer attributed to you.
You can access and correct anything you have logged directly in the app, and delete all of it at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request a copy of your data or to object to processing. Write to us and we will action it.
MacroTracker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
All traffic is encrypted in transit. Every table enforces row-level security, so one account cannot read another's rows, and photos are scoped to the account that uploaded them. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected users if we become aware of a breach involving personal data.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and note the change in the app.
